If you are unfamiliar with the “In Concert” format it means that the focus of the performance is on acting and singing with simplified staging and streamlined technical elements:

• Ensemble performers carry libretto/vocal scores in binders; principal/supporting music is memorized; Simon Zealotes, King Harod’s Song, and Superstar are fully staged.
• Principals will all have a single simple costumed look apropos to their main character; Ensemble will have a base costume with small added pieces for supporting roles.
• Performers stay onstage for the entire performance seated on the sides when not in a scene and stand by risers with binders in hand or downstage center with mics when performing.
• We will use multiple light looks, prerecorded music tracks, over-the-ear mics for principlas, five handheld mics for use by soloists, and area mics for the ensemble.

 
It will be similar in look and feel to The Moment, Some Enchanted Evening, Godspell, and most recently Little Shop of Horrors.

Initial Audition – EVERYONE MUST ATTEND
Fri Sept 04 from 5:00-7:00pm in the Otteson Theatre
Show up before 5pm to fill out an audition sheet. After a quick vocal warm-up, you will be given sheet music for Simon Zealotes: Christ You Know I Love You, then divided into SATB groups and taught the song. You will perform the number in small groups, one or two on each vocal part. This will be followed by a simple movement combination also performed in small groups. At this point you may be dismissed or given part of a song from the show to prepare for callbacks.
 
Principal/Supporting Callbacks – Jesus/Judas/Mary/Pilot/Simon/Herod/Caiaphas/Annas
Tues Sept 8 from 4:00-6:00pm in the Otteson Theatre
Show up as called and be ready to sing. We will begin by reviewing and hearing the distributed songs from the show.
 
Final Callbacks – As Needed
Wed Sept 9 from 7:00-9:00pm in the Otteson Theatre
Show up as called and be ready to sing. We will begin by hearing select songs from the show.
 
Additional Info

• We are looking to cast 16 Actor/Singers for the concert performances. The cast list will go out via email by noon on Thurs Sept 10
• Rehearsals are from Fri Sept 11 through Fri Oct 23
• ENTIRE CAST must be available on Mondays/Wednesdays from 6-9pm as well as on Fridays from 4-6pm
• PRINCIPALS/SUPPORTING must also be available on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 4-6pm
• Tech is Oct 26-27-28 from 6-9pm
• Performances are Thurs Oct 29 @ 7pm,  Fri Oct 30 @ 7pm, Sat Oct 31 @ 2pm
