MY COUNTRY SPEAKS is a 60-minute event which will include performances of 8-10 snippets of famous democracy/civility speeches by a range of historically significant Americans.
Professional actor Jonathan Wainwright (alumnus) will play Abraham Lincoln, and all other roles will be open to students, faculty, and staff.
Though all of the speeches haven't been decided at this time, examples of historical folks include: Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, Anna Howard Shaw, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, etc.
We will also apply for a Convocation Point for the 4pm performance, and have asked Dr. Lilly Goren and Dr. Patty Rodda to help us lead a talk-back if approved.
The 7pm performance will be open to the public.
