Audition Schedule
DANCE AUDITION (5:00-5:40pm) - ALL CALLED
• Use official Green Day recording of AMERICAN IDIOT to prep, link included below!
• Be familiar with, and prepared to learn a dance sequence to, AMERICAN IDIOT from 1:20-1:50 in Green Day's official recording.

VOCAL AUDITION (5:45-6:45pm) - ALL CALLED
• Use AMERICAN IDIOT Sheet Music provided to prep! Available in the Theatre Office by Tuesday, 3/22.
ALL: Memorize and be prepared to sing Measures 9-39 of AMERICAN IDIOT, as a duet.
• One person will sing Gerard at Measures 9-15, one will sing Andrew/Declan at Measures 17-23, and both will sing Measures 25-39 together.
• Use AMERICAN IDIOT Sheet Music provided to prep! Available in the Theatre Office by Tuesday, 3/22.

AMERICAN IDIOT SYNOPSIS

Bold, brash, and fun, American Idiot takes Green Day’s chart-topping 2005 punk rock album and brings it vibrantly to life. American Idiot follows a young anti-hero, Johnny, the self-proclaimed “Jesus of Suburbia”, and his two buddies, Will and Tunny, as they attempt to break out of their mind-numbing, aimless suburban existence. After escaping to the city, Johnny finds himself embroiled in a passionate affair with a stunning and unpredictable young woman, and an even more passionate affair with hard drugs. Tunny finds a sense of purpose by enlisting in the Army, but is wounded in the line of duty, both physically and emotionally. Meanwhile, Will, who decided to remain in the suburbs with his newly pregnant girlfriend, becomes moored to his couch, hopeless and stuck. Each of the men struggles to find the balance between rage and love – a conflict that defines their generation. With Green Day’s heart-pounding, visceral songs and a young cast who rage against the machine of society with heart and spunk, American Idiot is a knockout guaranteed to bring the house down.
Other Information
INTIMACY AND SIMULATED DRUG USE
The Audition Information Form will include a Comfort Level Questionnaire regarding intimacy scenes, clothing modesty, and simulated drug use. All intimacy will be strictly choreographed with consent from performers involved, and no mouth-to-mouth kissing will be included due to COVID-19.

Thursday, May 5 - Friday, June 3 (M-T-W-R-F rehearsal time will depend on company availability, but most likely afternoons/evenings)

THE490 CREDIT & HOUSING
If you need on-campus Housing in May and June, you will need to register for 1cr of THE490 in S1 (you can choose 1-4cr) and we're waiting to hear if extending housing through June 19 will be fully free – it will depend on the number of students needing it. You won't register for the course until after casting/interviews.
PIT MUSICIAN, STAGE MANAGEMENT, TECH, CREW, CHOREO, PR, STUDENT WORKER POSITIONS
Application and interview process will occur later in April – after casting!
