Minor in MUSICAL THEATRE (20 credits)
Goal: Intended for students interested in developing their practical musical theatre skills in acting, singing, and dance.
Learning Outcomes for Musical Theatre Minors Upon successful completion of the minor requirements students will be able to: 1.Effectively practice the art of Musical Theatre through involvement in the creation and presentation of public performances in a variety of Musical Theatre styles and mediums. 2.Act honestly and apply vocal and physical techniques to the creation of performance. 3.Sing with a free and authentic voice. 4.Dance proficiently in a variety of musical theatre styles. 6 Credits in Dance DNC205/206. Jazz Dance I or II (2cr) DNC211. Theatre Dance (4cr GE2) 6 Credits in Music MUS185. Concert Choir (1cr) MUS117. Class Voice (1cr) MUS169. Voice Lessons (4cr total) 8 Credits in Theatre THE100. Theatre Participation (0cr* total) THE102. Intro to Performance (4cr) THE202. Contemporary Acting (4cr) THE400. Musical Theatre Workshop (0cr**) * Students must audition for, and perform as cast, in at least two musicals to fulfill the minor. **Students must enroll in and pass THE400 each Spring to be continued in the minor. |
