ROMEO+JULIET (A COVER)

Adapted and Directed by Prof. Jennifer Dobby | Music Direction by Julie Johnson '98 | Music Arrangements by Mark Wampfler '19
New Dates: Oct. 23-24, 2020

The production is a musical adaptation of the Shakespeare classic - it's 50% original Shakespearean text and 50% contemporary cover songs played by a live pit - and will be performed this Fall as a true multi-media production (a combination of filmed and live performance).

A few roles and positions are open, so if you're interested, submit a virtual audition to Prof. Jenn Dobby by August 2.
This audition is available for incoming and current Carroll students.

To Audition, submit the following as a shared Google Drive Folder to jenniferdobby@gmail.com by Sunday, August 2, 2020
- A video of you performing the Prologue from Romeo and Juliet

- A video of you performing the choreography to YOUNGBLOOD
- Two videos of you singing parts of YOUNGBLOOD and LET YOU DOWN with the lyrics attached below
- A completed audition form found below

What to Submit to Audition

Memorize and rehearse the below section of the Chorus' Prologue from Romeo and Juliet.

-Record yourself performing the Prologue.  Please wear a black shirt and look 'camera-ready' - whatever that means to you!***
-An example video is posted below***

-NOTE: There may be a large 'filmic' aspect to this production, so this video will help me determine who can handle text, memorization and 'acting on camera!'
-NOTE 2: If no punctuation exists at the end of a line, continue speaking directly into the next line.  Only pause between lines if punctuation is present.  And "doth" is pronounced "duth" and "piteous" is pronounced "pity-ous."

CHORUS PROLOGUE

Two households, both alike in dignity
(In fair Verona, where we lay our scene),
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life;
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents' strife.
